Job Vacancies
We start from a belief that the people of Reading have many talents. These are sometimes hidden, other times they do not have an opportunity to flourish. These talents are to be found amongst young people and the older generation. Both, we believe, have a lot to learn from each other.
Generations Together is a government funded programme supporting inter-generational projects. Reading is just one of twelve local authority areas to win funds for an 18-month research pilot. Projects will be developed in schools, communities and voluntary groups leading up to a week-long Festival of Ages in 2010.
Coming together to deliver the programme is a partnership of Reading Borough Council, the Central Berkshire Education Business Partnership, Street Games UK and Age Concern Berkshire.
PROJECT OFFICER
The post holder will act as the project leader, taking a lead in the development of community-based projects and ensuring adherence to the implementation plan. With good project management skills, and able to communicate equally well with young and old, you will have a keen sense of the need to monitor and evaluate the project outcomes and keep within budget. Community development skills would be very desirable as would experience in working with volunteers.
This post is a full time post on a fixed term contract to end March 2011 at a salary of £22,500 p.a.
PROJECT WORKER (VOLUNTEERING)
Inter-generational projects will offer many opportunities for volunteering. The Project Worker will have a central role in identifying opportunities for young and old to volunteer, supporting them in the process and, where appropriate, accrediting the work. You will also play a key role in the Festival of Ages. Able to communicate with young and old alike, you will have a good understanding of the reasons people volunteer and the support you can offer them.
This post is a full time post on a one year contract at a salary of £19,000 p.a.
